Your tour of the cultural monuments and historical sites in the Amyntaio area can begin at the organised archaeological site of the Hellenistic city of Petres and the church of Agios Nikolaos in the village of the same name.

Follow the road alongside the northern shore of Lake Petron, heading eastwards through a unique natural landscape to reach the foot of the hill, at the top of which stands the Byzantine Castle ‘Kale’. Continue your journey into the region’s distant past with a visit to the Prehistoric settlement of Lake Petron, situated next to the Chapel of the Transfiguration of the Saviour (Metamorfosi Sotiros).

As you continue your journey towards Agios Panteleimon, visit the significant Iron Age Necropolis and finish at the Monastery of Agios Panteleimon and Evboule.
