All the neighbourhoods of Amyntaio are brightened up with light on the night of 3–4 December, the eve of the feast of Saint Barbara, thanks to the bonfires that make this winter night brighter. Hope for a good winter and a wish for the new year, warding off evil spirits, or a commemoration of the miracle of Saint Barbara’s fire?

Whatever this winter bonfire may symbolise, accompanied by local music and delicacies provided by the Municipality and local associations, it is the premier winter cultural event in Amyntaio.
